Akhter Mateen
Akhter Mateen has an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi. Akhter was born in Pakistan in 1962.
Chief Auditor
Akhter started his career with Unilever in 1984, joining Lipton Pakistan as a management trainee. He worked in various commercial and financial areas in Unilever Pakistan, as management accountant and commercial manager till 1993. He then moved to Bangladesh where he worked as Commercial Manager and then Commercial Director of Lever Brothers Bangladesh till 1998.
From 1999 to 2001 Akhter was Commercial Manager M&A working with the Corporate M&A team of Unilever in London. He was subsequently appointed VP Finance Home Care and Supply Chain in the Home and Personal Care Division, where he worked till 2003.
From 2003 until 2005 Akhter was the senior vice president, finance for Home and Personal Care Latin America Business Group. Prior to being appointed Chief Auditor, he was vice president finance, South East Asia and Australasia, based in Singapore.
Akhter is married with two daughters and a son. His interests are cricket, golf and spending time with his family.
